Photographic equipment marketplace raises £5 million

Brighton based used photographic equipment marketplace MPB has attracted £5 million funding from Beringea and Mobeus Equity Partners. The business currently facilitates over 6000 transactions a month and uses proprietary technology to ensure that listings are accurate and consistent. This allows the auto-creation of listings for more than 4000 products and has enabled the business to grow to annual revenues of £22 million. It now plans to grow operations in Germany and the USA, and to build on its base of 200,000 registered users.

Matt Barker, CEO, MPB said “We’re helping photographers and film makers access a greater variety of equipment than ever before, with absolute confidence in the quality and value of the items they buy, so that they can make quick and easy changes to their kit bags. Transparency of information and consistency of pricing are critical to providing  the best possible marketplace experience for customers, and we’re excited to be able to bring this experience to an even bigger market as we continue to grow with this new funding.”
