Moonpig appoints Peter Donlon as CTO

Moonpig, the online personalised gifting, flowers and card retailer has appointed Peter Donlon as Chief Technology Officer. Peter starts on 4th December, bringing together the end-to-end technology infrastructure for Moonpig, encompassing web engineering, app development, production engineering and architecture. The move follows the recent appointment of Andre Rickerby as Moonpig CMO and a comprehensive refresh of the brand in late Summer that positions the retailer for further growth. Peter brings a wealth of experience from the retail sector. He spent over five years at Sainsbury’s, as Head of Development he hired and led a team of 400 engineers, drove agile transformation and delivered a wide range of customer facing apps, websites and back office systems.

Most recently, Donlon worked at Glue Home as Head of Software Engineering, looking after the development of an award winning smart access and in-home delivery solution. Since August 2017, Peter has also been advising the healthy, hi-tech vending company Mother Foods as Non-Executive Chairman.

Building on the brand refresh and an ever-expanding range of new cards, gifts and flowers, Moonpig recently launched a unique handwriting feature on its iOS app, allowing users to upload handwritten notes and doodles straight onto their card.

I am thrilled to be joining this talented team,” said Donlon.

“Peter brings invaluable experience and a great personality to the team” said Richard Orme, CTO for the Photobox Group, which Moonpig is part of. “He will help us realise our ambitious vision while making sure the customer experience continues to go above and beyond.”
