Amazon to settle French tax demand

Amazon will now pay the French tax authorities a total of 200 million euro  to settle a case that arose from alleged non-reporting of income on revenues generated between 2006 and 2010, when the online giant’s European revenues were routinely diverted to Luxembourg to reduce tax liabilities.  France and other EU countries have been mounting high profile campaigns to ensure that tax is paid in the countries where revenue is generated.  Amazon says it has invested more than 2 billion euro in the French market where it has created 5,500 jobs.
