Samm Swain, one of Lakeland’s merchandising managers, has been confirmed as the successor to Matthew Canwell as buying and merchandising director. Samm’s career spans almost 25 years, working for a number of well-known high street retailers before joining Lakeland in 2009. Her promotion follows the departure of Matthew Canwell, who left the business in 2016 to pursue a new venture after 13 years of service in the role.
Commenting on her appointment, Samm said, ‘After seven years at Lakeland, it’s a dream come true to take on the buying & merchandising director role. There are exciting times ahead and I look forward to leading our fabulous team as we continue to source innovative, extraordinary products for our customers.’
Lakeland’s CEO, Catherine Nunn added, ‘We are thrilled to announce the internal appointment of this crucial role. Samm has worked extremely hard since joining the business in 2009 and her new position is incredibly well-deserved. We all look forward to supporting her in both her new role and as a member of the board from February.’
