Halfords posts sales increase

Halfords has reported an annual sales rise of 7.2 per cent to £1.1 billion for the year to 31st March 2017. But whilst sales grew pre-tax profit fell from £79.8 million to £71.4 million. During the period it had begun to leverage its acquisitions, Tredz and Wheelies, which helped it grow its online sales by 30.5 per cent, and had begun to exploit its “evolved store concept”. Departing CEO Jill McDonald was applauded by chairman Dennis Millard who said “We are grateful for the positive contribution Jill has made across the business and she will leave Halfords with a strong team in place and clear direction to drive future growth.”

As previously reported Jill McDonald will join Marks & Spencer later this year.
