Invictus Games deal landed by Superdry

Superdry Sport has been appointed as the official clothing supplier to the UK delegation for the 2018 Invictus Games which will take place in Sydney. The Superdry Sport’s in-house team will create full technical training and competition wear for UK competitors. In addition, it will provide training and leisure clothing for the full UK delegation, including competitors, their families, friends, team staff and guests. The range will be developed in consultation with previous competitors and work with each individual competitor to develop a unique range tailored to specific requirements.

The announcement comes as public interest in Prince Harry, who founded the Invictus Games with the MoD, Help for Heroes and the Royal British Legion, reaches an all-time high with his imminent marriage to Meghan Markle hitting the headlines. The 2018 Invictus Games will involve more than 500 competitors from 17 nations participating in 10 different adaptive sports.

Euan Sutherland, CEO, said “The Invictus Games has shown how the power of sport can help injured servicemen and women and their families and inspire us all. We are proud to have been chosen to provide the performance clothing for the UK delegation.”

In other news, Superdry says it expects to complete the buy-out of the operations of its Netherlands wholesale agent Portare B.V. in January for an estimated consideration of £2 million. Portare will continue as the preferred franchise partner in the territory. Superdry generates some 5 per cent of its global wholesale revenue from the Netherlands via 9 franchise stores and 334 wholesale doors.
