Royal Mail profits fall

Stronger competition from rival parcel carrier contributed to a drop in Royal Mail’s profits from £400 million last year to £267 million to year end 31 March 2016.  Parcel volumes handled by Royal Mail had increased during the period but a lowering of prices affected profitability.  CEO Moya Greene said that the business was introducing new, improved products and services and responding with greater speed to meet customer needs.
