Power tool maker chooses Walker for UK supply chain

Positec Tool Corporation (Positec), the Chinese-owned manufacturer of the Rockwell and Worx brands of power tools, has outsourced responsibility for its UK B-2-C and B-2-B supply chains to Berkshire-based Walker Logistics. Under the terms of the three-year agreement, Walker will store the entire Positec product range, along with spare parts and accessories, and distribute to retail stockists throughout the UK such as Argos, Amazon, Wickes and Homebase. In addition, Positec’s growing online channel business will be supported by Walker’s pick & pack and fulfilment capability. The contract goes live in September.

In-bound freight from the Far East will be trunked from Southampton docks to Walker’s 230,000 sq ft multi-user facility near Reading where containers will be de-stuffed and their contents put away. 1000 pallet locations have been dedicated to the 1200-plus SKU contract. Thanks to synergies with a number of its existing contracts, Walker will be able to consolidate outgoing deliveries to the regional distribution centres of Positec’s retail clients, thereby delivering significant transport cost savings throughout the life of the agreement.

Walker will also deliver a number of bespoke add-on services including returns management and re-work for any products that develop a fault while under warranty, while full down-stream traceability across the Positec range ensures product recalls can be undertaken quickly and efficiently should the need arise. Positec awarded the contract following a competitive tender process.
