John Lewis to close Leith DC

John Lewis is to close its distribution centre in Leith, Edinburgh next month and will consolidate distribution at its delivery hub in Glasgow. The closure follows a consultation period which began at the start of the year when the site’s future was cast into doubt. A spokesperson for John Lewis said that the Leith site was no longer suitable to support the company’s growing business and that the company would therefore consolidate in the more up to date facilities available in Glasgow.

The closure will see the loss of 78 jobs in Leith, but 40 new roles will be created at the Glasgow site.
