Morrisons has confirmed its appointment of former Tesco finance director Andrew Higginson, initially as its non-executive deputy chairman, effective 1st October, in readiness to succeed Sir Ian Gibson as chairman in 2015. Meanwhile Higginson is to step down from the chairman role at Poundland where he will be replaced by former Carpetright CEO Darren Shapland who has been a senior independent director at the discount retailer since the start of 2014.
