Countrywide Farmers enters administration
A grim week comes to a close with the news that Evesham headquartered Countrywide Farmers is in administration. The retailer had achieved a sale of its LPG division and transfer of related staff but its store chain was suffering from trading difficulties and cashflow difficulties. It had begun to seek a buyer last April but sadly a deal for the sale of its chain to competitor Mole Valley Farmers was thwarted by the CMA in October. The business which has 48 stores and employs 700 staff will now be traded by the administrators whilst a new buyer is sought.
